Wool

One of my favourite blankets is from ForestryWool, made from NZ lambs’ wool and created in a wide variety of both on-trend and neutral colour ways. I’m in love with the beautiful pastel pink as it can lighten up a space instantly, and can be used on the sofa, or as the extra layer on your bed on cooler evenings.

Red wine

Oaken (13 of 15)

We’re lucky to live in a country with an amazing wine industry, we so many beautifully made drops to choose from. I’ve been making excuses to go to Oaken in Britomart as often as I can lately, as they have an impressive wine list crafted by David Nunn, and a great ‘taster’ size that enables you to sample from not only NZ but around the world, and still drive home. A current favourite of mine is the 2013 Artezin, Californian Zinfandel which is a strong red with berry fruit flavours like raspberry.

Layers

I’m a big fan of winter dressing, there just seem to be so many options! I’m slowly building up my collection of jackets and coats, and this winter I have my eye on one more. This year it’s the Theory double-face wool-cashmere trench coat in Pink Willow – a nice alternative to my usual black and neutral palette. It’s one of those pieces you feel you have to have, as if it will absolutely change your life forever.

Adventure

tawhranui

Having an escape from daily routine can really change your outlook, especially in the midst of a cold and wet winter. I like to try and escape the city regularly to refresh my mind. Heading north to Matakana for the weekly farmers market, followed by a wander along the headlands at Tawharanui Peninsula is my pick at the moment. If you’re lucky you might spot a dolphin!

Indoor greenery and flowers

Indoor greenery and flowers. Any excuse to buy a new plant pot or bunch of blooms. I am a fiend when it comes to flowers and greenery – what with all of the colours, the textures, and the perfume. It’s a brilliant way to enliven even the dreariest of days in the midst of winter, and any spot in your house or work space. I love Blush in Parnell, this store has a light and elegant atmosphere that transports you away, and with the addition of that soft pink packaging I can not think of a reason not to buy yourself a bunch.
