We love to eat delicious things in beautiful places, and we know you do as well - so we decided to create a club that celebrates both delicious things and beautiful places: The Tasting Club.

Each month, we'll partner with some of our favourite people to create a very special one-off event. We'll organise the menu, the place, the time, and the beauty.

All you have to do is buy a ticket and turn up.

It seemed only right that the very first meeting of The Tasting Club be held at Kokako's Cafe & Roastery in Grey Lynn - because we really can't say enough about this place and the people in it.

So at 7am on Tuesday the 26th of June you will walk through the doors of this old post office and find a g&h wonderland. The amazing team at Kokako have created a three course degustation breakfast for you to enjoy. Our very good and clever friend Caroline Paynter has taken care of styling and creative direction. We will be there to greet and seat you (and probably to take a few photographs as well).

All that's required of you is an early morning smile and a rumbling tummy.

Here is a copy of the menu to give you a better idea of exactly what kind of culinary delights are in-store:

First Course: 7am

Gluten Free toasted muesli served with rhubarb and apple compote and BioFarm organic bush honey yoghurt
matched with Kokako organic Aotea blend coffee served as a piccolo

Second Course: 7.20am

Breakfast bruschetta with rocket, roasted mushroom, caramelised onion, feta and a poached free range organic egg (gluten and dairy free options available)
matched with Lothlorien organic grapefruit juice

Third Course: 7.45am

Corn fritter with fresh tomato salsa and crème fraiche (gluten and dairy free options available)
matched with the following non-pressurised soft brews using Kokako Aotea or Rangatira blends

  • cold brew filter - soft-brewed over night in a Hario Mizudashi coffee flask
  • pour-over - soft-brewed by our head roaster Sam Jarvis in a Hario 60 dripper

Your chefs will be Adam Van Schravendyk and Rohan Horner.

Your baristas will be Tokiko Matsuoka and Sam Jarvis.

Your delight will be child-like. It will infuse your day with loveliness.

Other important information:

All courses served will be entree-size - we're not trying to make you eat three breakfasts in one sitting!

It's very important that you appear at Kokako by 7am in order to fully enjoy the true luxury of The Tasting Club - Kokako breakfast.
